[net.video] MTS and Zenith Z-Tac cable converter

jimb@tekcbi.UUCP (Jim Boland) (02/25/86)

After all the discussions we've had, I noticed that my Recoton 566
MTS decoder works (in Portland on Rogers Cablesystems, at least)
on the two stations which have mts stereo, CH8 and CH4. CH4 is really
CH2 locally that they moved on cable to reduce local interference. This is
on a Zenith Z-TAC converter. I called the cable company and they don't
know what I am talking about, let alone why or how it works. But
work, it does. Note: Those are the only channels that do. They are
not modulating MTV or anyone else this way.
Hmmmm.
Just thought I'd pass this on.

Boy are you lucky. All of the articles I have ever seen, cable people
are quoted as saying that the non-IF converters, of which the Zenith
Z-Tac is supposed to be one of them, will not pass the MTS information.

There is something going on here that just isn't right.
