The cheapest solution to this problem is to get a multi-standard VCR and TV. These are (naturally) somewhat more expensive than ordinary (or "regular" as you say in this country...) systems, but for about $1700 you should get a very satisfactory setup (that is a TV and a VCR). However, if you have friend in another country to whom you want to send tapes, then they will need a similar setup. There doesn't seem to be any alternative to this, you can have tapes transferred (for about $100/hour of tape), or buy your own digital converter for around $100.000. Multi-standard systems seems to be the way to go. PAL is 625 lines at 50 field per second, by the way (and the colour is wonderful). Ole -------
