I feel compelled to respond to Murray regarding the 1E^6 transmitter in Cinci, (WLW), since I posted the article. I really do not know about their distribution tecniques. Indeed, it would seem logical that that much ERP at close range would fry certain things. Perhaps they have *secret* sateelite transmitters as do the Air Route Traffic Control Centers (ARTCC) located throughout the country. Perhaps they have other polarization tecniques or other magic to make this go. Perhaps I am full of feces and this information relayed to me at OU is incorrect! I dunno. Any ARRL or other broadcast-type engineers care to comment on this? Please do! It is quite an interesting topic; and I believe that this kind of Civil Defense stuff is still going on.
