O.K., all you Roger Tory Peterson (or is it *en) fans, this is it. I just received my official invitation from the National Wildlife Federation (Foundation?) to subscribe to a new issue of the famous Field Guides. These are the 50th Anniversary Edition, and are bound in leather, with 24K gold leaf lettering, etc..... The NWF is offering a special subscription to its members; Each volume (33 in all) is offered monthly, and $29.50 +$2.50 s&h ($32.00 total). With the subscription you also get a "handsome hardwood bookshelf to allow you to proudly display your collection". If anyone out there is interested, and willing to spend $1056.00 total for all 33 volumes, let me know and I will send you the info. (I have one (1) preprinted card and will gladly fill it out for the first serious person to come along. Just send me your name, address, phone number, statement of mental health from a registered phsychiatrist, etc., and I will do the rest. By the way, the NWF will bill you for the first volume. I don't think you want to give out your Visa or MC number, do you?) Personally, I think I will wait until the NWF makes them available on a one-at-a-time basis, and just buy the ones I am interested in. I really don't need a field guide to rocks and minerals, or a field guide to railroad ties of the western U.S. (no, this is not one of the titles... it is just my sick humor leaking out again... gotta have that fixed!) Another thing: If anyone wants to join the NWF, let me know... I have a few cards that fall out of my National Wildlife magazine all the time. (It really is a nice organization, and the membership includes a subscription to National Wildlife (published bimonthly), along with special deals on trips, gift items, wildlife art...etc.) -- Ron Lewen ....ihnp4!tellab1!rcl <---------------------------------------------------------------->
