[net.rec.birds] Audubon Society Membership

lute@abnjh.UUCP (05/24/84)

The question was asked a couple of weeks ago: "Does anyone know how to get
membership in the National Audubon Society (NAS)?" Well, I was a member for
a year, and I managed to dig up an old March 1982 issue of Audubon magazine
so that I could answer this question. Be aware though, that some of this info
may be out of date.

Membership fees per year: $25 for individual, $32 for family.

Membership includes:

- A one-year subscription to AUDUBON magazine (six issues),

- Membership in your local Audubon chapter, and participation in its events,

- The opportunity to visit Audubon Nature Centers and attend Audubon Ecology
  Camp,

- Ability to attend national and regional conventions and join Audubon tours,

- special offers on books, gifts and collectibles.

The address to write is:

		National Audubon Society
		950 Third Avenue
		New York, New York 10022

I should also add that your membership aids their educational programs,
sanctuaries, research, and ability to make their voice heard in matters of
public conservation laws.

I hope this proves helpful to those of you out there who are interested.

The membership dues for an individual jumped up to $30 this year, but it
is still a good bargain for all the good that the Society does.
