Apologies for the delays in getting this group started. Things should now be running smooth as silk (he said, in a fit of shameless optimism). The following introductory posting will be repeated on a semi-irregular basis; it's no doubt incomplete, so feel free to mail me with questions and I may add the answers to it. PURPOSE: rec.music.reviews is for the posting of reviews of any sort of musical recording or event. No reviews will be rejected on the basis of musical style. Some of the readers of low-volume specialty music groups like r.m.classical and r.m.bluenote have indicated that they prefer to see reviews in those groups, so we encourage you to crosspost as you feel appropriate. MODERATION POLICY: Non-reviews will be rejected, as will "reviews" that say nothing more than "it sucks" or "it's great". (If you're writing brief, one-paragraph reviews, you might consider batching them up several to a posting.) I do not edit for content or style. There are no specific guidelines on reviewing new vs. old music; I would guess that most reviews will be of fairly recent releases, but that's really up to you folks. Reviews won't be rejected on the basis of age. FOLLOWUP POLICY: Because rec.music.reviews is not intended as a discussion group, all postings will have followups redistributed elsewhere. If the author supplies a "Followup-To" line redirecting followups to an appropriate newsgroup, it will be honored; otherwise I shall add one (to rec.music.misc by default).
