REFERENCES: <1628@bmcg.UUCP> A lot of birds like fruit. If you put out some apples and oranges you might get something different. I have a two feeders. One has sunflower seeds in it and the other is a seed bell. I have tons of house sparrows and some house finches, but that is it. I've never even any birds besides those except for crows and gulls in my apartment complex. I'd welcome a nice cardinal. Oh well. By diversifying the food you put out, you will attract a wider variety of birds. Besides various seeds and fruit, try some suet. The woodpeckers and nuthatches love it. I don't know if you have nuthatches in San Diego. You should also consider a hummingbird feeder. You should be able to attract some Anna's hummingbirds. When I lived in California a lot of birds were attracted to the fig tree in the backyard, so I think fruit would be your best best in San Diego. Sharon Badian
