For those of you who don't read "control", here's the newgroup message: Control: newgroup comp.archives.admin comp.archives.admin is an unmoderated newsgroup which passed its vote for creation by 230:11 as reported in news.announce.newgroups on 26 May 1991. For your newsgroups file: comp.archives.admin Issues relating to computer archive administration. The charter, culled from the call for votes: The purpose of the newsgroup is to give the community a forum for discussions relating to archive administration and archiving topics. Its focus is the maintenance of archives in general, tools for dealing with accessing, maintaining and updating archives and directions that archiving should be taking in the future. The intent of the newsgroup is not to just focus on one type of archive administration but accept and encourage discussions on the administration of different types of archives such as ftp, uucp and email based archives. Thanks to Kent for running the vote! I'm looking forward to a good group. A reminder to all planning to go to Usenix that there's an "archivists BOF" in the works (details to follow). -- Edward Vielmetti, moderator, comp.archives emv@msen.com "(6) The Plan shall identify how agencies and departments can collaborate to ... expand efforts to improve, document, and evaluate unclassified public-domain software developed by federally-funded researchers and other software, including federally-funded educational and training software; " "High-Performance Computing Act of 1991, S. 272"
