The Next berkeley distribution will have some sort of networking support. This will be fine for Vaxen. 3Com corporation (maker of Ethernet Boards) also make a software product that is a "hot slide" into a V7 kernel. This product, UNET, works quite well on an 11/70 under Berkeley 2.8. They will also sell it to you for Berkeley 4.1. (I've never tried the VAX version). I do not recall the price of the software product, but if you call: 415-961-9602 And ask for sales, they will be more than happy to help you out. I would suggest this over the Berknet. Purdue's network is also fine, but is a little rough to handle. The advantage of UNET or the next Berkeley work is that they run the DoD "standard" TCP/IP protocol. (The new protocol for the arpanet and autodin-ii). The Berknet does not support anything other than a FTP. (similar in idea to the uucpnet). TCP/IP supports a full Virtual Terminal Protocol. (e.g. my terminal in on host A, and I do a virtual login into host B). Clem Cole
