SCO AUTHORIZED RESELLER PROGRAM DRAWS
ENTHUSIASTIC RESPONSE FROM CHANNEL
SCO extends authorization program training
to meet unprecedented reseller demand
SANTA CRUZ, CA., (June 24, 1991) The Santa Cruz Operation, Inc. (SCO)
announced today that the SCO Authorized Reseller program it established in
March has drawn a tremendous industry response and is on target to qualify
thousands of SCO Authorized Resellers in 1991.
``Through the 25-30 training courses conducted by our distributors each month
to qualify SCO Authorized Resellers, hundreds of resellers have already been
trained,'' said Don Morrison, SCO's North American Marketing Director. ``The
enthusiasm for the program we've seen over the past five months is evidence of
SCO's strong relationships with our existing distributors and resellers, as
well as our continued growth as a worldwide leader in open system software
solutions.''
SCO created the SCO Authorized Reseller Program to expand and standardize the
technical and sales training available to resellers of its market-leading open
system solutions. The program matches resellers with SCO Authorized
Distributors, who provide the resellers with high-level service, training in
open system technology and solution selling, and ongoing technical support.
According to Morrison, SCO originally planned to qualify all its existing
resellers under the new program by July 1, 1991. Demand for participation in
the program has been so great, however, that SCO will provide resellers
scheduled to complete the training after July 1 with provisional authorization
for a period of 60 days.
The SCO Authorized Reseller Program includes the participation of 10 SCO
Authorized Distributors in the United States, four in Canada, and major retail
chains in both countries. In addition, SCO's international business units
continue to maintain and develop similar programs in Europe, the Middle East,
and Africa, as well as in the Pacific Rim, Asia, and Latin America.
