[comp.os.msdos.desqview] QEMM on system with memory interleave

victor@ccwf.cc.utexas.edu (Victor Menayang) (05/17/91)

Is there any QEMM user out there who has a
386-25 motherboard with an AMI BIOS that supports
memory interleaving, BIOS shadow, and Video shadow?
I need some advice on optimizing my system.
A copy of config.sys would be highly appreciated.

I have a 386-25 system with 2MB memory and the options Victor
refers to. Mine has a chips and technology chip set to control things
like shadow ram and interleave. I too want to know enough about QEMM to
say how one optimizes it, but at present can only add uncertainty:

My impression, which I hope someone will comment on, is that in fact
it's a struggle just to get QEMM to do anything useful with the shadow
ram in use, because the shadow ram plus the ram on my video and ethernet
adapters use up much of the memory that would be available for QEMM to
use for Loadhi.

QEMM does provide simulated EMS memory for programs that can use it. Also-
I don't think it makes any difference to QEMM whether your memory is
interleaved or not- that would likely be transparent to QEMM, and to
the CPU as well!
