I have an intersting problem. I am running DV 2.24 or 5 and a 4.something version of QEMM (sorry about the lack of details but the machines at work and I am at home). I know they are old versions but I haven't got round to upgrading. The system is a 33mhz 386 running dos 4.01 (soon to be 5) with an 80mb IDE drive and 2mb ram. I run 2 programs under DV. One is a mainframe terminal emulator called QICPC (which is only useful for ourmainframe) and Quattro Pro 3.0. Recently I have started getting funny problems and they are becomming more frequent. I exit the emulator and it drops me to the QPRO window as expected. Then a lot of th time hte keyboard wll be locked. Sometimes the DESQ key will work and sometimes it won't. Sometimes I can CTRL-ALT-DEL the QPRO window to get back to the DV menu. And when I (Q)uit DV I get a general failure reading drive C: error while trying to load command.com. Obviously when I hit (A)bort I get cannot load command.com system haltede. I have run CHKDSK, norton disk test, norton disk doctor and SCAN and there is nothing wrong with the disk and there are no viruses and the problem is bcomming more frequent. I know this sounds like hardware 'cos its getting worse but I CAN NOT get the error to occur except when using DV and trying to exit QPRO or DV after exiting QICPC. Once it gave me an error in QPRO which translated to drive failure. After the system halted messgae I can sometimes ctrl-alt-del and sometimes have to reset but it will always boot up again with no probs! HELP!!!
