The one thing we've had work here was our last activity before summer. We did a demonstration of the dept's research graphics machines (Silicon Graphics) and got over three times our usual turnout. Any and all suggestions for exciting activities would be greatly appreciated! (By most, I'm sure...) David Shackelford Secretary Univ of AZ Student Chapter

(By most, I'm sure...) Why don't you try getting speakers from local industry? For example, Hughes, Artisoft, umm... there are others in Tucson. For example, you might have some folks from HAC talk about CASE, or about computer control of robots on the assembly line. Finding interesting topics should really be easy at a university with the kinds of resources available. You could have folks from Optical Sciences talk about using computers to control mirrormaking and testing of mirrors; you could have folks from AURA/NOAO talk about computer control of telescopes and how computers are used to analyze the data. You could have folks from EECS talk about their research, or ..... one good technique is just to have an officer's meeting and brainstorm. Hope this helps. (U of A class of '85, B.S.
