[comp.org.acm] Hello Again!!

TAINT021@ysub.ysu.edu (David M. Onder) (04/29/91)

I guess I offended a few people by saying our organization was dying. I
meant our LOCAL organization, thanks to Dan Corbett for the help on the
rebuttle.

A few weeks ago, three to be exact, our organization held a programming
contest for the area high schools. We had about 7 schools participate in
this years contest ( I am writing this from memory so I hope I am close! ).
I was fun and tons of work. It was proof that few people like to help out.
We did have about 10 good workers for the entire contest and I appreciate
all there help. We offered only five problems to our students, and only
three hours to do them. The problems were more difficult than some of
the problems I have seen since I originally posted our problems to ACM-L.
Only one problem went unsolved, and only two schools didn't solve any.
This was one of our best contests ever. (We have one every year, but I
don't know when they started these...)

Next year I hope to implement some of these ideas for our organization.
Does anyone know who to contact at IBM, or any other company as such,
that might be as kind to our university, such as donations, etc?
We might be able to do more with corporate sponsorship of some of our
activities.

One last question...Does anyone know if they have a student organization
at their university for ASM (Association for Systems Management)? We have
one here (I am president next year) and I wanted to talk to some other
active orgs. if there were any.... Thanks!

Well, until next time...... :) *SMILE*
