Greetings:
I am the program manager for local activities at ACM Headquarters in New
York, and I am making this posting on behalf of myself and ACM Executive
Director Joe DeBlasi.
First off, we would like you to know that we at headquarters are currently
not connected to comp.org.acm We have, however, been forwarded some of the
postings. Mr. DeBlasi in particular would like to say that he was very
pleased to see this newsgroup come into being, and appreciates your comments
and concerns. Several of the posting that we have been forwarded have been
sent to the appropriate staff members here for their information (i.e.,
the CACM Executive Editor has received some of the postings re: the new
format of CACM, and member services and chapters staff have received
copies of postings related to their areas as well).
ACM Headquarters is investigating ways to get connected to this newsgroup,
and we hope that, within the next several weeks, at least some of the
staff will be able to hook directly into comp.org.acm and read and respond
to your questions and comments. We are very much looking forward to
establishing this new direct line of communication with the ACM members.
Until then, however, please feel free to address any specific questions,
comments, or concerns directly to ACM Headquarters. (please note that most
