Recent postings have commented about the lateness of a couple of ACM's publications. The Publications Board is aware of this, and has appointed a task force (of which I am a member) to try to deal with it. The current status of TOCS, as last I heard it reported, was that it was around 6 months behind schedule. The good news was that the paper flow in that publication had improved, so that hopefully it will start catching up. TOSEM is off to a late start, and it won't start publishing for several more months. Those of you who have already subscribed to it will notice that you've received a credit towards your next year's subscription; this appears in your renewal notice. Starting a publication is nontrivial, and requires enough high quality papers to sustain beyond the first issue. The paper flow to sustain the journal appears has required longer time than expected.
