re: Backyard Birds Now that fall is here, the birds at my feeder are changing. Winter birds are arriving early this year here in Los Alamos, N.Mex. Oregon Juncoes are here already, along with a few Pink-sided and Gray-headeds. Pine Siskins have been eating thistle seeds here all year. Some even brought in their fledglings to feed them. A few Evening Grosbeaks were here earlier, but are gone now. Seems as if Steller's Jays and Red-shafted Flickers are going through in larger than usual numbers. Wonder if there will be an influx of these birds to the lowlands this year. (We are at over 7000 feet in altitude.) Also have House Finches, Scrub Jays, Mountain Chickadees, White-breasted Nuthatches at my feeder. And occasionally a pair of Brown Towhees. Patricia R.
