My husband and I took a trip down to Lake Pepin (Minnesota) last month to see the migrating water birds. There were hundreds of Canadian geese, snow geese, tundra swans, canvasbacks and other ducks. We also saw many birds of prey, including 2 bald eagles and a golden eagle. As far as squirrel-proof bird feeders, I never had any trouble till I switched from a tube feeder to a cedar, house-shaped feeder. When I used a tube feeder, the squirrels, rabbits and larger birds fed on the ground. I wanted to get a feeder to accommodate the larger birds (cardinals) so they wouldn't have to eat off the ground (I have a blood-thirsty cat). The cardinals still won't eat from the larger feeder, neither will the small birds since the squirrels took over. Anyone know of a squirrel-proof feeder that cardinals will eat from? It should ideally be snow-proof as well. Thanks
