InterViews 3.0-beta is now available via anonymous ftp from "interviews.stanford.edu" (IP address 36.22.0.175). The distribution is in a compressed tar file named "pub/3.0-beta.tar.Z" (about 3Mb). The directory "pub/3.0-split" contains the result of "split" on the file. We have fixed bugs, made performance improvements, and ironed out portability problems since the alpha distribution. In addition, both doc and ibuild have many more features. Doc has customizable menus, automatic numbering, and better support for tables. Ibuild has a "narrow" tool that obviates the need to create a new view simply to view a partial hierarchy. The IV-look library has a new "Bevel" class for creating Motif-like bevels, and glyph-based implementations of menus and scrollbars that use bevels. The README file in the top-level directory contains information about how to build InterViews. The PostScript file iv/src/man/cover/cover.ps contains general information about version 3.0 (including a brief discussion of differences). A new document, iv/src/man/refman/refman.ps, is a partially-completed reference manual, which really amounts to an organized condensation of the manual pages. Please send problems with the beta distribution to interviews-bugs@interviews.stanford.edu.
