[comp.windows.interviews] problem understanding boxes and glue

jason@hcx1.csd.harris.com (Jason Baietto) (05/18/91)

(I'm currently using iv 2.6)

Here's the scenario: I'm using a vbox as my top level interactor. I put
two hboxes into that. In the first hbox, I put some glue, a message, and
some more glue. In the second hbox I put a bunch of buttons with glue in
between them.

Here's the problem: I get "see through" gaps where the glue is. As far
as I can tell, the glue doesn't do any drawing, but that shouldn't matter
because the box should be drawing the background (or so I think).

Can somebody tell me what I'm doing wrong? I don't have this problem
with trays because I can specify the background interactor, but a tray
just seems like overkill for this simple task.

BTW: I've gotten all sorts of neat things working with iv, from scrolling
graphs to subclassed scenes, but this glue stuff's got me stuck.
