A question for those of you who have Coherent already, is there a MS-DOS format floppy data reader available on Coherent? How much disk space does the OS + all utilities take up after installation? *hwajin -- Hwa Jin Bae hwajin@pei.com Protocol Engines, Inc. Mountain View, CA

Yes, you can read your floppies and your hard drives (under certain conditions) using the "dos" command. >How much disk space does the OS + all utilities take up after >installation? Roughly 10MB. michaelv@iastate.edu -- Iowa State University

From the Coherent users manual: "The command dos allows the Coherent user to manipulate an MS-DOS file system, which may be either a hard disk partition or a floppy disk. It can build an empty MS-DOS file system, label it, list the files in it, transfer files between it and Coherent, or delete files from it." If one installs a full set of manual pages and the dictionaries used by the Coherent file system then Coherent requires 7 Mbytes of disk space for its root file system. You then need at least this much space for user accounts (suggested minimum is 15 Mbytes for everything). Michael Levy Department of Computer Science and Systems McMaster University

Actually, about 3 Mb less if you decide to do without spelling checker
and online man pages.
