[comp.os.coherent] BSD<-->SunOS<-->Coherent Internetworking

I have a few questions...

I've been thinking of getting Coherent for my laptop PC (a
386 SX-16 MHZ). I have SCO System V/386 unix running on my
ALR flaxcache 20386 and SunOS 4.1 on a SPARCstation 1, and
Mach (BSD 4.3) running on my 68040 NeXTcube. Question is this:

	a) Is it possible to put a Coherent machine on my network?
	(TCP/IP Ethernet coax)

	b) What kind of performance should I expect from Coherent? I
am rather dissappointed with the performance of SCO unix under
the 80386, and am not going to bother if Coherent is not much
	better.

	c) Does Coherent come with TCP/IP and stuff (nfs, etc.)?

	d) What is coherent's C compiler like? Is it as good as the c
compilers on the NeXT, SPARC, and SCO - 386 machines?

	e) The ad says "20 MB disk". Is that really all? After seeing
320+ MB disappear from my cube when I installed 2.0 Extended, that
	is hard to believe.

	f) Does it come with netnews?

	g) What about X11R4? I'd like to have it on all of my machines,
as it is the only windowing system all of them seem to want to
operate (I'd prefer NeXTStep, but NeXT isn't letting Sun use it..
	:)

That should do it. Thanks a bundle.

There are reports that someone is working on this.

For some things Coherent will be faster, even more so once the 32 bit kernel
comes out.

See above.

It's a fairly good compiler. Mark Williams has been dealing in C compilers
for years.

Believe it.

Cnews and rn are now available from an ftp site, and MWC BBS. I am posting
this from my Coherent machine.

Only rumors and guesses.

Your welcome.
