I've been giving myself a crash course in C lately with the help of a neighbor who lives a few floors down and have come across the following lack of documentation: what in the heck is a message key? Someone mentioned a function called ftok() earlier. (about 20 msgs back) I don't know what it is, but perusing some talk code made it seem helpful. Other than the fact that a message key is a long integer I have no conception of what one should look like. What is a bad key versus a good key? Info. about ftok() and message keys would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the help, Todd Ruth truth@ucsd.edu PS If you know of a good reference for this stuff please let me know. You just can't cover all of Coherent and C in a 1000 page book.
