The program goal is to facilitate the genetic improve- ment of plants using the latest evolutionary and revolutionary biotechnol- ogies. These efforts will lead to improving crops to meet marketplace needs and reducing the negative impact of agricultural practices on the environ- ment. The National Agricultural Library (NAL) will be producing a relational data- base to archive and distribute data generated by the program. NAL will pro- vide public access for this information. NAL will also publish a newsletter for the USDA program. This newsletter will be issued quarterly. The first issue is expected by late summer.
