Dear Bulletin Board Colleagues, I currently have an opening for a M.S. level scientist working with Arabidopsis for which I am seeking your aid in identifying suitable candidates. Beginning in July, I will be initiating a research group in the Plant Sciences group of Central Research and Development at the DuPont Company in Wilmington, Delaware. The group will focus on the metabolism of starch and other carboydrates, using Arabidopsis as the model organism. The successful candidate will participate in biochemical and physiological studies of existing starch mutants, isolations of new types of mutants and the cloning and characterization of the genes identified by these mutations. The optimal candidate will have a M.S. degree in a biological science and experience with and knowledge of biochemistry, especially relating to carbohydrate metabolism. The individual should be able to work independently and with others and be capable of contributing insights and ideas to the research projects. Practical and theoretical knowledge of molecular biology and genetics and experience working with plants are advantageous. Ideally, the position would be filled beginning in July or August of 1991, however, some flexibility in the starting date is possible. Applications, including a curriculum vitae and three letters of reference, should be sent to me. Until July 1, my address is: Univ. of California Plant Gene Expression Center 800 Buchanan St. Albany, CA 94710. After that date, my address will be: Plant Sciences Group DuPont Company P.O.
