[comp.compression] Info on compression techniques used in backup software on PCs.

I am interested in learning more about the compression techniques used in 
the backup software (e.g. Fastback+, PCback,etc).  I have a backup file
which I cannot restore and would appreciate if someone can provide more
info on that.
