There is a strong likelihood of one or two postdoctoral positions available at Duke in the following areas: Position 1: Design and implementation of parallel algorithms. Along with theoretical research in parallel algorithm design, the applicant should be able and willing to do implementations on multiple parallel machines such as the CONNECTION machine and BUTTERFLY. Implementations would be both for specific algorithms and for software tools for assisting these implementations. Position 2: Data compression. The applicant would be involved with both theoretical algorithm design and the development of software or hardware implementations. These positions are provisional at this point.
