Here is information about the -t1 option of ARJ. This is used for compressing 7-bit text files. Currently, ARJ does not warn you if you try to use this option to compress a binary file. When using the -t1 option, ARJ will determine the end of file when a CTL Z is encountered. This is normal behavior for ending text files in MS-DOS. This is documented in ARJ.DOC and in the built in help screen as t1: force C text type. One of the reasons for the lack of a warning is the wide variety of text file representations. For example, PRIMOS text files are 8-bit files. I will put a warning in the MS-DOS version of ARJ to notify the user when the text size and the binary size differ appreciably.
