Many compressors (and modem transfer protocolos) use a CRC algorithm (cylce-redundancy-check) to verify errorless decompression (or transfer) of packets/files of data. I understand the need for them but I haven't been able to locate any _real_ information about what it actually is or how to implement one. Could anyone point me in the direction to find articles/books /source code/other news groups about either actual implementations or the theoretical basis of a CRC check. If I get enough useful replies I'll post the sources and my findings.
