If you want to read and write TIFF files, you should get Sam Leffler's libtiff from ucbvax.berkeley.edu:/pub/tiff/v2.2.tar.Z. This is a good library written in C that implements almost all of TIFF5.0. The current version is 2.2 and 2.4 will be available *real soon now*. Libtiff contains an ASCII version of the TIFF5.0 spec and a few sample programs including a TIFF viewer for X11. The mailing list tiff@ucbvax.berkeley.edu is for people interested in libtiff.
