I am going to be doing some serious work in compression starting sometime in the next two months. I have looked in a few algorithms books, but they do not seem to discuss compression in too great of detail. Huffman coding and few other techniques are discussed, but other than that I can not seem to be able to dig out much from our library. I would like to find out about the state of the art in compression techniques. Are there any good tutorial books on compression ? Are there any technical journals that discuss the latest advances in compression? Can anyone suggest any books, articles, etc. We have just started getting this news group.
