[misc.news.southasia] Indian parliament has been dissolved

Lok sabha has been dissolved. Presidential order under clause  2 of
the article 85 of constitution to this effect was issued in New Delhi this
afternoon ( 3/13/91 ). A press communique issued by the Rashtrapathi
Bhawan said that the president has directed constitution of (NSW) new
lok sabha on or before 5th of June. An official notification in this
regard will be published in due course. Communique said dissolution of LS
has been ordered as union council of ministers headed by CS have already
resigned and recommended a fresh poll.  The communique further said no
political parties staked claim to form an alternative government.
The house has been dissolved after all necessary budgetary and other 
legislative mesasures have been passed by both houses of parliament.

Number of representations were made to the president in favour and
against dissolution of Lok sabha.

The president Mr.Venkataraman consulted eminent lawyers and jurists and 
also several party leaders and decided that it will be safer to have
financial provisions passed by parliament.
