This is the News on 22nd March 1991 India: There had been a dramatic development in Harayana. The CM Hukum Singh has resigned as the leader of the legislature party and Om Prakash Choutal was elected this afternoon as the leader. In the meantime three ministers have resigned protesting the moves to replace the CM Cong(I) President Rajeev Gandhi is meeting tomorrow the CMs of UP and Gujarat for forming an electoral alliance. He said at Nagpur Airport that Mr. P. V. N. Rao is going to Lucknow and Ahm'bad for talks. Eralier at Rajkot, RG said that the permission to VHP for performing Shilanyas (during his admn) was given on a written undertaking by VHP the the temple will be built only after the courts permit it. Janata Dal Leader, Mr. Arun Nehru has said that the electoral fight will be only between the Nationa Front and Cong(I) and he does not see any possibility of a hung parliament. BJP leader K.L. Sharma said that his party is sounding Anna DMK party for an electoral alliance. However, while talking to UNI he said that BJP will not have any electoral pact for the ensuing elections. Assembly elections in TN and Pondichery will be held along with LS elections. WB cabinet has decided to dissolve the Assembly. The Election Commosion is waiting for a communication from WB govt to hold WB elections also concurrently (sp?). The EC said that it is ready to hold elections in Assam, J&K and Punjab if centre so desires. In Assam AGP seems to be in a crisis. Seventten legislators have written a letter to Mr. Mohanta accusing of corrurion etc and asking him to step down as their leader. In New Delhi, a bomb exploded in a shopping mall in Connaught area injuring three people who have been rushed to a hospital. The entire area was cordoned off by bomb squad. Sri Lanka: Three hundred LTTE guerillas have been killed in encounters during the last three days, according to an SL govt. spokesman. The operation took place in Mannar district and resulted in the death of 18 soldiers. Pakistan: Herald Group of Newspapers have suspended publication of Karachi and Hyderabad editions of all its newspapers. The group has alleged that there was an unprecedented violence against hawkers and journalists by MQM elements. MQM leader Altaf Hussain and representatives of the group had a meeting today.
