PM meets Sikh Militants (Source: New York Times, April 23, '91) --------------------------------------- New Delhi - The Prime Minister ChandraShekhar has held two rounds of talks with prominent Sikh militant group representatives on April 17 and 19 in New Delhi. The militants were reportedly representatives of 3 groups, two of which were identified by newspapers here as a major faction of the All India Sikh Students Federation and the Panthic Committee led by Gurbachan Manochahal. The militants also had one round of discussion with the governor of Punjab, ex-Army chief, Gen. O.P. Malhotra. The militants reportedly brought their own bodyguards for the meeting in Chandigarh. Two of the militant groups have said that they will take part in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, scheduled for June.
