Sorry, the former union law minister Mr.Dinesh Goswami was killed, not
assassinated. It was error on my part.

The body of the former union law minister and the sitting memeber of
Rajya Sabha Mr.Dinesh Goswami, who was killed in a road accident about
50kms from Gawhati in Assam this morning, was kept at his residence in
Gawhati for public homage. Large number of people have been paying
their last respects to the departed leader despite torrential rains.
The state governor Mr.Loknath Mishra laid a wreath on the body of
Mr.Goswami on behalf of President and the PM. The funeral will take
place on Monday. Meanwhile the state govt has declared a three day state
mourning and a holiday on Monday. Several political parties have suspended
their poll campaign today as mark of respect to Mr.Goswami.

The upper house of parliament begins its two day special session
on Monday ( regarding the prospects of President rule in Haryana).
AIR correspondent reports that it is for the first time that the UH is
meeting in the midst of elections.

The election commission has asked state governments to make contigency
plans to relocate polling stations in the event of rain during polling.

The  state governor of Haryana Mr.Dhanik Lal Mandal yesterday met the
PM and the President Mr.Venkatarman and apprised them of the peaceful
conduct of elections in the state.

In Pakistan, the death toll in Friday's explosion has gone upto 32.
Meanwhile the PAK PM Mr.Nawaz Sherif has launched another investigation
in to the death of the former president Gen Zia-Ul-Huq.  Ordering the
new investigation Mr.Sherif said, he was fed up with the sluggishness of the 
ongoing probe in to the plance crash (Aug 1988) in which Gen Zia was killed
along with the US ambassador and several Pakistani generals.

In the continuing security combing operatins in J&K, security personnel
arrested several pak trained militants in Ananthanag and Baramula dist.

In Punjab, six hard core terrorists were arrested near a village
in Amritsar. Large cache of arms and ammunition was recovered.
Upon interrogation, the militants revealed that they used a truck 
several times to crossover the borders. 

All India Radio made no mention about the arrest of the National
Front chairman Mr.NTR, who reported to have been arrested in 
Hyderabad.
