The LDF candidates are leading in 40 assembly segments and in two Lok Sabha constituencies while the BJP is ahead of both the UDF and LDF candidates in two assembly seats. The UDF candidates have established slender leads in quilon, koshikode, ottappalam(sc), trichur, ponnani, manjeri, kasargod, mukundapuram and adoor(sc) Lok Sabha seats. The \df nominees are in the lead in idukki and alleppey. Gujrat: ======= Ahmedabad, June 16 (PTI) senior BJP leader Mr l k Advani and ms Deepika Chikhalia (Sita) were among the BJP candidates forging ahead in Gujarat The poll partners--Congress-i and Janata Dal (Gujarat)-- were in the lead in three and one constituencies, respectively at 1315 hrs. Mr Advani had taken a lead of 13,580 votes over the Congress-i candidate Mr G I patel in GandhiNagar at the end of the first round. Mr Advani polled 35,889 votes and Mr patel 22,309 votes. Mrs Chikhalia was involved in a see-saw battle in Baroda against the Congress-i candidate, Mr Ranjitsinh Gaekwad of the royal family. After yielding an initial lead, she forged ahead and took a lead of 17,000 votes. She pollled 1.46 Lakh votes as against 1.29 Lakh votes of Mr Gaekwad. The former civil supply minister, Mr sanat mehta, was among the Congress-i nominees trailing behind the BJP candidates. In surendraNagar, he was behind by 4336 votes. Karnataka: ========== Bangalore, jun 16 PTI: the Congress-i is leading in 16 of the 27 parliamentary constituencies in Karnataka in the third round of counting here today. New Delhi, June 16 PTI: Congress (I) won the first four Lok Sabha results and was leading in 64 seats while the BJP was ahead in 23 according to reports received till 2.30 Pm. The Congress i won the Rajapur seat in Maharashtra defeating Mr Madhu Dandavate (JD) former finance rpt finance minister. The party also bagged lakshadweep, Ratnagiri in Maharashtra and kanara in Karnataka. Congress i established an early lead in 16 constituencies in Karnataka and in all the four seats in Himachal Pradesh. The party has also forged ahead in 19 seats in Madhya Pradesh and six in Rajasthan. The Congress (I) was leading in at least six Lok Sabha seats in Kerala and also in the lone Chandigarh seat. The BJP was leading in 12 seats in Gujarat, six in Karnataka and five in Rajasthan. The slain Congress i leader Mr Rajiv Gandhi was leading in amethi Lok Sabha seat while the BJP leaders Mr L K Advani was leading in new Delhi and Gandhi Nagar and Mr a b Vajpayee in lucknow. The marxist Kerala chief minister Mr e k Nayanar was trailing in trikkaripur assembly seat. In west bengal the CPM was leading in durgapur and darjeeling but mamta banerjee of the Congress i had established a lead in jadavpur. The Congress I, AIADMK combine was leading in 180 assembly seats in Tamil Nadu while the AIADMK leader Ms jayaLalitha was leading in both kangeyam and burgur assembly seats.
