Chandigar Cong-iset to win Haryana Chandigarh June 17 () the Cong-i, which is leading in nine of the ten Lok Sabha seats in Haryana, is on course to form a government in the state but appears to be falling short of absolute majority by a few seats in the 90-member vidhan Sabha. Former Chief Minister, Mr Bansi Lal's hvp was leading in one Lok Sabha constituency of bhiwani. Of the 69 assembly results announced so far Cong-i, which could only manage six assembly victories in 1989, has bagged 38 and was leading in 8 other constituencies. The SJP was second with a tally of 15 while the Haryana vikas party (hvp) was trailing at third position with nine seats. The BJP tally stood at two and independemts three. The biggest upset was caused when Deputy Prime Minister Devi Lal lost the Ghirai assembly seat to Congress-I candidate Mr chatarpal by 2,154 votes. The Haryana patriarch was also trailing in the Rohtak parliamemtary constituency when last reports came in. End of article
