[rec.radio.amateur.packet] ROSE X.25 Source/Executable/Documentation Announcement

n2dsy@cbnewsh.att.com (j.gordon.beattie) (05/15/91)

The Radio Amateur Telecommunications Society (RATS) is pleased
to announce that the complete, source, executable and documentation
for the ROSE X.25 Switch by Tom Moulton, W2VY is now available for
non-commercial Amateur Radio use.

RATS encourages others to port the code to other platforms and to
use it to develop new applications in amateur radio and other areas.
Amateur Radio use of the code requires the developer to simply send
RATS the source code to the new environment or application for further
distribution by RATS as part of the growing RATS Open Systems Environment
(ROSE) platform. Other development uses of the code are also possible,
with licensing available through RATS. For further information contact:
J. Gordon Beattie, Jr., N2DSY at the address or telephone listed below.

.
The Radio Amateur Telecommunications Society is pleased to
provide you with a complete archive of the latest version of the
ROSE X.25 Switch software. Please follow the directions for
unpacking this version of the software and you will minimize
problems. If you have any questions please call Gordon Beattie,
   N2DSY at +1.201.387.8896 or via packet: n2dsy@n2dsy.nj.usa.

1. Make sure that you have about 2 megabytes of free disk space.
You won't need to use it all, but it will give you room to play
with the code once you explode the ZIP file.

2. Create the directory path "c:\SRC\RATS\ROSE0422". You may
use another drive if you like, but this structure will keep you
out of trouble when you get future releases of software.

3. With the ZIP file archive on a diskette use the following
command to break down the ZIP archive onto your "c:" drive:

               PKUNZIP -d a:\RSWS0422.ZIP c:\SRC\RATS\ROSE

4. Please note that the "-d" option will create the required
subdirectories for you. If you have problems, make sure that
the version of PKUNZIP is as current as the one shown below or
   later.

I will also place a (12 bit) compressed tar archive there in a day
or so containing everything except the binaries (and with CRLF to LF
bashing done on the text files) for the Unix crowd.
