[comp.sys.3b1] Basic info on 68010 unix PC wanted.

tom@aquarius.as.arizona.edu (Thomas J. Trebisky) (03/05/91)

As a total newcomer to the ATT unix-pc scene, I have several
(probably basic, boring, and simple) questions to ask.

Is the 68010 based unix PC what is also known as a 3b1 ?
What kind of hard drives are inside (scsi, st506) ?
Does this thing have an internal modem (and uucp runs nicely on it?) ?
Is maintenance info (i.e. schematics) available anywhere ?
(maybe some kind soul on the net who has them could contact me).

Thanks

	Tom

I've already responded by e-mail, but don't you think that we should
go back to the monthly posting of the FAQ file? There may be those who
could benefit from it who haven't ftp access, and can't yet fathom the
esoterica of setting up uucp, especially in such a way as to deal with the
Micom switch. (Not to mention that they don't know the FAQ is out there,
nor how to access it, unless they've read the FAQ :-)

	Thanks

I second this. I got a 7300 for me poor mother (who is 1200 miles
away) for use at her business, and I end up doing a lot of "remote
support", much of which is covered in the FAQ list.

have fun

I second this idea wholeheartedly. In some postings I saw references to
the FAQ, and kept wondering why I never see it posted. (I have been reading
this newsgroup/comp.sys.att/unix-pc.general for several months now).
Please, some kind soul, let us have monthly FAQ posting.
Thank you, and best regards.

I know Lenny is up to his eyeballs in work ("How do I get SMIT working!?!?"),
but I'd be willing to take over the Frequently-asked Questions list.
I can't update osu-cis, but I can keep the list up to date (with your
kind contributions, of course) and post monthly.

I'll send Lenny a note and see what we can come up with, or see if
there are any other volunteers.
