I know this has been discussed before, and I thought I saved a copy but I can't seem to find it anywhere. Exactly what do theses HDERR messages tell me? Is there a Bad Block in Swap that I can add to the bad block table? (Is there a way to reformat just the swap partition?) Or is my HD , Controller, or Power Supply starting to act up? I started getting these messages after the machine crashed due to a power hit in a thunder storm. My machine runs fine for 4-24 hours then crashes with one of these (I saved two examples to determine if it is the same block each time.) : #HDERR ST:1 EF:4 CL:FF83 CH:FF00 SN:FF06 SC:FF02 SDH:FF22 DMACNT:FFFF DCRREG:92 MCREG:CD00 #HDERR ST:1 EF:4 CL:FF83 CH:FF00 SN:FF06 SC:FF02 SDH:FF22 DMACNT:FFFF DCRREG:92 MCREG:CD00 #HDERR ST:1 EF:4 CL:FFB1 CH:FF00 SN:FF0E SC:FF02 SDH:FF22 DMACNT:FFFF DCRREG:92 MCREG:8F00 panic: hard IO err in swap #HDERR ST:1 EF:4 CL:FF7E CH:FF00 SN:FF00 SC:FF02 SDH:FF20 DMACNT:FFFF DCRREG:F0 MCREG:8500 #HDERR ST:1 EF:4 CL:FF7E CH:FF00 SN:FF00 SC:FF02 SDH:FF20 DMACNT:FFFF DCRREG:F0 MCREG:8500 #HDERR ST:1 EF:4 CL:FFB1 CH:FF00 SN:FF0E SC:FF02 SDH:FF22 DMACNT:FFFF DCRREG:B2 MCREG:8700 panic: hard IO err in swap
