I don't have the VIDPAL (yet), but have the VIDPAL-emulator (has there
been any revisions to this?)... and need help getting MGR to compile.
There are a lot of compile time options, and when I unpacked this from
OSU, was disappointed as I thought most of it would have been preset
for the 3b1, considering it was in the 3b1 directory....
In either case, does someone have copies of the latest MGR software
that's compiled that they might be able to send me?
Thanks,
Forrie

My unix-pc is a 7300 currently with a 20M drive. I downloaded the vpe and MGR and got psyched for the job... Vpe compiled and installed without pain. MGR: I first read all appropriate configuration files and make files in the top-level make directory of the distribution. I saved these files to other names to preserve them. Next, I went into the 3b1 directory, said "heck with it" and moved ALL those files to the top-level directory. Once the make process was underway, it went fine. I certainly don't remember having any real problems with it. (Oh, the build did stop once because the system ran out of disk space, but compress on a few large files fixed it.) Maybe I was just lucky, but MGR is working fine on my small system. Now for Brian to process my vidpal order... :-) Brent Burton n138ct@tamuts.tamu.edu

Three questions re. MGR 1) I am unlikely to ever open my case and install a vidpal board. I never heard about the vidpal emulator before --- what kind of performance cost does it take? What will happen to my machine performance (consumption of resources, speed of execution) if I switch from UA to MGR w. vidpal emulator? 2) Will MGR allow me to use the phone manager still as I do now? Will it take less space on my hard disk than this silly UA environment? 3) Where is all this stuff?? I just logged in to cis.ohio-state.edu, and couldn't find any 3b1 stuff any more? What happened to it? Do we have another archive site now that I didn't hear about, or did I just not look in the right place on ohio-state? Thanks. Paul -- Paul Kirkaas kirkaas@cs.ucla.edu

In an article kirkaas@oahu.cs.ucla.edu (paul kirkaas) [me] writes: >Three questions re. MGR }3) Where is all this stuff?? Well, okay, so I re-ftp's, this time with the full path-name cheops, and found att7300 again (Big relief) --- but the vidpal emulator; is that Ditto's vidram, or is it something else? Also, I didn't see the Index file that used to be part of the archive. Paul. -- Paul Kirkaas kirkaas@cs.ucla.edu
