[ This is a replacement of the 1/7/91 message, with a couple ] [ of minor corrections and a more readable format. Nothing ] [ is new here, so you probably don't need to re-read this. ] Introduction to Comp.Sys.Amiga.Announce As of January 9, 1991 Welcome to comp.sys.amiga.announce. This is the "news" group of the amiga newsgroups. My name is Dan Zerkle, and I am the moderator, your humble servant. The backup moderator is Mike Meyer. I don't know how humble he is. This group contains announcements of import to the Amiga community. It contains ONLY announcements. Discussions of the announcements do not take place here, but rather in separate groups indicated on the followup line of the messages. Announcements can be anything that people may find interesting that concerns the Amiga, but generally consist of product announcements, news flashes, disk library releases, software updates, uploads to archives, reports of major bugs or dangerous viruses, and so on. As this group is moderated, you can not post here. If you have an announcement to make, you should send it to me, and I will post it. There is another message posted regularly that describes how to make submissions. Please read the most recent version of this before sending me any submissions. Product announcements should not evaluate the product. However, there is another group called comp.sys.amiga.reviews. After a product is announced, reviews are highly desirable. If you would like to write a review, please read the instructions in that group. The moderator is Jason Tibbitts and his address is HONP9@menudo.uh.edu. If you are releasing a product and intend to give out free copies to people who will write reviews, make sure to include that information in your announcement. You will surely find many willing volunteers on Usenet. I want to make this a good group. If you have any questions, helpful comments, or suggestions, please contact me at zerkle@iris.eecs.ucdavis.edu. Do not send submissions to that address. Announcements should be mailed to announce@iris.eecs.ucdavis.edu. This file is posted monthly. Other files posted regularly are: A) This group's charter. B) Disclaimers and warnings. C) Instructions for making submissions. -- Please see monthly postings for the disclaimer, the introduction, the charter, and submission instructions. Comments to zerkle@iris.eecs.ucdavis.edu. Submissions to announce@iris.eecs.ucdavis.edu.
