Graduate students from the Political Science Department of the University of Waterloo have organized a multidisciplinary graduate students' conference on federal government policy during the Mulroney years. Graduate students from various departments at Guelph, McMaster, Toronto, Waterloo, Western Ontario, Windsor and York will present papers. The speakers will cover a broad range of topics including constitutional policy, economic policy, environment policy, international relations and social policy. At present, the following papers are confirmed. * Politicalization of the Supreme Court * Canadian Fisheries Policy * Competition and Collusion in Industry * Canada and the PLO * Meech Lake Constitution-Making Process * Canada and South Africa * Canada's Role on the Security Council * Federal Government Spending Policies * Native Land Claims Policy * Trade and Human Rights * Canada-US Subsidy Negotiations * Environmental Assessment and Heritage * Federalism and Ecology * Renewing the NORAD Treaty * Hybernia's Promise and Reality Hugh Segal, a Conservative party advisor and prominent Tory commentator, will be the keynote speaker at the reception on the first day of the conference. The conference is scheduled for May 10, 11, and 12, 1991, at St. Paul's United College of the University of Waterloo.
