Yesterday I attended my first real "gun show". It was a very interesting experience, esp. since we convinced a somewhat anti-gun friend to come with. Several interesting points: A friend of mine purchased a Davis .380, which, due to illinois law, he must wait three days to receive. The dealer said that he would hold it for three days, then ship it to him (with shipping time, about 8 days wait). I was under the impression that firearms could only be shipped from & to dealers with FFL`s? If he was to apply for an FFL, would he be eligible to receive the gun without the 3 day waiting period mandated by Illinois law? I can see why the anti-gunners have such a harsh picture of "NRA types" along with the usual firearm related merchandise, there were many tables loaded with MRE`s, dummy grenades and shells, survivalist merchandise, etc. Our anti-gun friend was impressed by the concern for safety shown by all of the dealers, and will probably come along when we go down to the range to try the new .380 (anybody know of sources for low-priced ammo and reloading supplies for this caliber?)
