I am looking for a solvent (?) or mixture readily available within the UK which will dissolve hard carbon from gas parts after firing 1500-2000 rounds thru a GPMG. Obviously, the solvent must be safe on chromed parts (so Jenolite err... 'carbon removing compound' is out of the question). Ideally, I will be carrying a jar of the stuff in CEMO & would drop the parts in the jar & leave them for about 20 mins., then rinse them dry and oil. Hot soapy water is unfeasible - I don't carry enough fuel to brew up for the gun! All suggestions gratefully received. Pete. (en9psb@uk.ac.bath.gdt)
