The following are various points from my Father, who avidly reads rec.guns on hardcopy. Please feel free to send any follow-ups to me to be forwarded manually (or in followup postings, which he will receive...): ------------------------------------ Re: A kids first gun; Definitely a SS .22 cal. and preferably a .177 air rifle. Never the Ruger 10/22 as some suggest. The 10/22 is a masterpiece of engineering in that type (only outdone by Erma with their M1-.22), but NEVER a first gun. Re: Cleaning; CLP (i.e. BreakFree!) was introduced to this a year ago and it is the "miracle" I have been waiting for for a longer period than I care to reveal. This stuff is expensive but worth ten times the price. (Suppliers please ignore this last comment.) Re: The Glock; Never used one but have it from those in this part of the world who should know that it is the technology of tomorrow. (Apparently Colt is now realizing this.) Re: Home Defence: No need to make this subject complicated or costly; a short double barrell (coachgun??) in any guage except .410 in any brand (Rossi???) Re: Salt Loads in shotshells?!?!?; for heavens sake!! Keep salt and gun metal as far apart as humanly possible for obvious reasons!!!! Re: The posting some time ago summarizing reloading manuals; FANTASTIC! Who was that? I have referred to, and used, that article (without permission) many times. It beats the hell out of lending my manuals!! Re: M16/AR15 accuracy; I have problems with this subject. Someone in the net is holding back. There has to be an answer out there. --------------------------------------- -John Gass c/o: dale@mkseast.mks.com
