[rec.guns] Kid's first gun

Although it is the most often made suggestion, a single-shot .22 might not be
the best gun to start on. A small-caliber center-fire bolt-action rifle would
give more of a feel for "adult" rifles, and possibly give a chance to teach
reloading as well.

There are many drawbacks to rimfire guns (reliability, power, accuracy etc)
and if a child is old enough to learn to handle a gun he's old enough to learn
on a rifle suitable for larger game.
