Actually, there was a 9mm Parabellum version of the Walther PP. I believe this was called the "MP." It had a much larger slide than the MP, as well as a stronger spring. It came around sometime in the 1930s, before the Walther HP (P-38). It was a straight blowback pistol as well. A picture appears in one of the earlier "Smallarms of the World." Straight blowback 9mms are feasible, but have not been commercial successes. There was an Astra 9mm as well as the H&K VP-70 that were straightblowback. Currently, the Stallard 9mm is being sold, and is a blowback as well. Of course, this does not include the submachinegun derivative handguns, like the M11/9 or the Intratec series, Uzi pistol, Spectre, etc....
