The Fifty Caliber Shooters Association (FCSA) will be holding a national match near Reno, Nevada next week. You do not need to be a member of the FCSA in order to watch or even fire off a few rounds. This is an excellent opportunity to see Barretts, McMillans, and other .50 BMG rifles. Friday, June 21 will be for sighting-in only. My guess is that this will get under way around 9am and end around noon. This would be the best time for visitors to come by, chat, and get a chance to fire off a few rounds. The actual match will be Saturday and Sunday (June 22 & 23), starting at 7am and going till about 11am (the winds are calmer). Targets are at 1000 yards and trophys are given for the highest score and the tightest group. The tightest group in the FCSA is 9 and 5/16" for five shots at 1000 yards and I have a feeling that it's going to be halved next week (I've seen four shots go into 4" at that distance). The range is the Washoe County Shooting Facility and is about 22 miles north of Sparks, Nevada on the highway to Pyramid Lake. If you're heading north from Sparks, you'll see a sign on your left at the entrance to the range. -Dave
