Add a powder tricker, powder funnel, inside/outside case chamfer
tool, Dillon (or new size RCBS) primer flip tray, extre primer
tubes.
The electronic scales are great but if you won't be working up
loads often a simpler one will suffice and be much cheaper. I
use an RCBS 10-10.
I like the Wilson case trimmer.
If you want to de-cap and then clean your brass you'll also
want an extra too head with just a decap die installed. That
way you don't have to take the brass out manually and can cycle
it around. If you make the decap die a sizing/decap die and get
a toolhead setup for each calibre then you can trim your brass
after cleaning it without having to add another step.
You might want to get extra powder charge bars so you can
swap charge bars without having to reset them each time (although
the mic is handy for this).
I'd also suggest the dillon spare parts kit. (I haven't needed it
yet, but I don't want to have hungry carpet hang me for a match).
For those intereated in starting, one doesn't *have* to have all
of this to get started or to be successful, but he looked like
he was ready do drop the bucks..................

Is it necessary to trim 9mm/.45ACP brass? I'd been told that
the non-rifle cases won't need trimmed.

If you use very light loads, you may not have to trim, but magnum loads usually require it every second or third loading in my experience. As far as 9mm is concerned, I *know* that I've *never* had to trim a 9mm case (I measure them just to be safe). All the 9mm cases I've ever gotten have been somewhat under maximum length. I can't say I remember ever having to trim .45ACP either (but I would still measure them from time to time). The usual disclaimers (the need for which is a symtom of a society more concerned with greed driven legality than justice IMHO) apply. -- ========================================================================== Bob DeBula | Disclaimer: These are my views, not the U's

I hadn't noticed stretching of my cases, however, I did notice rather large variations in the lengths of the cases between lots and brands. I am experimenting with match prepping pistol brass (200 rounds per caliber) for silhouette matches. For these I wanted all the cases at exactly the same length so that they would get a perfectly consistent crimp (A heavy crimp is necessary in my case). In addition to the case trimming I used a Sinclair primer pocket uniformer and a flash hole deburrer on the cases. I would agree that the trimmer for most pistol work is not necessary. regards, Mike Harris - KM4UL harrism@rtp.dg.com Data General Corporation {world}!mcnc!rti!dg-rtp!harrism Research Triangle Park, NC
